I've said many times I wish I were cool enough to make Dresdens.

There's a new Moda Bake Shop recipe with Dresdens...it looked pretty easy, actually, and not at all scary. You should check it out.

Of course you're cool enough! And they're easy. Now I want to make Dresdens all day.

They are so much easier than they look and can be hand or machine appliqued to the background. Try one!

That's what I kept saying, until this past month when I finally did it! They're SO easy ~

honestly lady - you are way cool and you could make dresdens in your sleep. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Now, get yourself a wedge ruler and make some. Or else.

Natalia from Piece N Quilt said...

Why can't you make them?!?!

Kim said...

Drool! Those are beautiful and you are not giving yourself enough credit! You can do them!!!!!

I agree with everyone . . . they are way easier than they look. Pick up an Easy Dresden Ruler and you don't even have to think about it.

MD White said...

Super easy...you can do this! I can only imagine what fabs you'd choose!

Dresdens have always been my favorite, but for some reason, I have never ventured to make them, either. Maybe because they SEEM so time consuming! After seeing the comments here, though, maybe I will try a pillow or two, to go with my new bed quilt that I am planning to make sometimes this year (AFTER I finish making another baby quilt gift, stockings for the fam, and a tree skirt for me and another from my bro for Christmas! :) )

I just made my first one out of vintage sheets for a block exchange. I'm hooked and want more. So very pretty!

Aren't they pretty. I now have an application for my embrodery machine that lets me do them quicker - only thing is they aren't very big. I like the big ones.

You can do it! They are easy peasy!

You don't need to be cool enough to do dresdens! You are cool enough to do all the wonderful things you already do! And that's cool enough!

Actually, I'd kinda like to be able to do them too...someday I'll give it a shot!

You are cool enough! I made a bunch of them a few months ago, thinking it was going to be really hard. It's a lot of fun! Try it!

I have never seen a dresden I didn't love...really!

I am crazy about Dresden's! I love the mosaic your put together! Fun ideas and very inspiring... you know you have to make one now for sure!

I just want to add (refering to your post earlier this week) that I am an Old Navy flip flop girl myself. I have a huge basket full of every color you can think of... but am ready to go get some new ones for this year! I wear them day in and day out-- including to work!

I love Dresdens! A friend of mine just did a neat tutorial on how to do them http://imjustdandy.blogspot.com/2011/03/addicted-to-dresdens.html

I did one last year for my bee and I was so worried about it! But the method we used was a little cheater-ish but turned out so cute! I just did another one for a swap I was in. I think the cutting is the worst part.

Angela said...

i love them! I spy my little mini up there. :)

They are very simple really, especially if you just do one for a mini or pillow. I had my bee do them in KJR for a big quilt... too much for me!!

Did you see the one on Canton Village Quilt works today? Totally amazing!

I too wish I could make Dresdens. I bought the ruler. Just have to find the time and the nerve!

MD White said...

Let's do a quilt along!

Wendy P said...

You can see it here: http://cvquiltworks.blogspot.com/2011/03/chevron-dresdens-process.html

should have included it in my last comment.

You have great taste in dresdens. These are all so fun to look at.

Give it a try sometime. If you crash and burn then you crash and burn. But I'm betting you won't. :)

I'm so excited... mine is up there! I am a very very new stitcher and I followed a Moda Bakeshop Recipe (Dresden plates for your table)and found it really fun and oh so satisfying [and I even have trouble sewing straight lines sometimes!]

So get to it, you would so rock Dresden land :)

PS - Rachel I nearly fainted when you added my photo as favourite and now I am just so excited to have a pic in the montage!

You are cool! :) I haven't tried these yet, but I did buy a template because I saw a tutorial at Missouri Star Quilt Co.'s website & she made it look so easy. My grandma's didn't quilt, but a lady who was like a 2nd mom to my dad made me a quilt by hand for me. It's ALL dresden plates. I LOVE it. Even if my dh hogs it at night. LOL!

Maybe you just need another trip to San Antonio to get ready to make a Dresden plate. grin.

I made a full dresden circle a few years back...it was pretty easy to do. But that's as far as I got...just one...and it is now in a picture frame..glorious in it's lone beauty.
