A favorite book from my bookshelves is Living Buddha, Living Christ by Thich Nhat Hahn. It is a good reminder of how similarities can be found among very different people and cultures.

I am an avid reader and it's difficult to pick just one, but for some reason "Time and Again" by Jack Finney comes to mind. It is one of very few books that I've read more than once. Love your blog!

I'd have to say my favorite book is "War and Remembrance" by Herman Wouk (of course, you have to read "The Winds of War" first to get the back story).

The characters are so well drawn, you care about what happens to them. And the scope of the book is tremendous. THE WWII novel. I've read it at least three times.

My favorite book is and has been for many years 'Fried Green Tomatoes." I'm a Southerner (from Alabama) who has been transplanted to Michigan, and I just love the stubborn yet charmingly independent character of Idgie Threadgoode. Fannie Flagg is so great at describing what life in the rural South was like during the time you can almost picture yourself as one of the members of the community. The movie is great, too...but like most comparisons, the book is so much better :)

My favorite book is Anne of Green Gables. I could read it over and over again. I love the way Anne talks and thinks. I love it so much that I named my first daughter Anne (she is 8).

I just want to add that I love this thread - seeing who other loves the book you read (I wanted to comment to someone who voted SOMETHING WICKED HAPPEN by Ray Bradbury, I heart that book too) and who fell in love with Mr Darcy in the movie version by collin firth.

I have another one book to recommend - MEMOIRS OF A GNOSTIC DWARF, very similar to THE PERFUME... Its very difficult to get but its awesome.

That's a tough one! But if I have to narrow it down to one, my absolute favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird. I just love it. A second would be the Book Thief.

i'm going to say an author instead--who basically wrote 2 series of novels--it's Miss Read--and she writes about the Cotswolds (British countryside)in these sweet, but not saccharine, novels. i love them and read them over and over again. though gotta say, as a child, i loved (and still do) the Chronicles of Narnia (i'm into series :-) and rad those over and over again.

My favorite book of all times is A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE by Barbara Taylor Bradford..a poor servant girl from Ireland get pregnat by the rich son, and runs off..but she is so resourceful that she soon had a business of her own, which she builds into a multi milliorary company..and she gets back at the rich family...she bankrupts them..tears down their home and build a park for the local kids...a must read for every woman here.....I first read it as a teenager...but now as a adult have re-read it several times..it gets better and better every time..oh it has secual also..but in my opionion the first book A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE is absolutely the best...

Usually it's whatever I'm reading at the time. My boys got me the whole Harry Potter series in hardback (a bargain found at the thrift store!). I'm on the 3rd one now and love them! Your basket of scraps is adorable. I'd love to get started on a cute string quilt with it! Thanks for the opp!
